brain surgery for a condition called arteriovenous malformation. It
causes arteries and veins to grow abnormally large.

Sen. Tim Johnson is in critical condition after having emergency brain
surgery hours after he had stroke-like symptoms, a hospital official
said. The South Dakota Democrat's illness could affect whether Democrats
will gain power in the next Senate.

A British police inquiry released Thursday concluded that the deaths of
