Doctors successfully separated 5-month-old conjoined twins from North
Dakota during a six-hour procedure Wednesday at the Mayo Clinic in
Minnesota. The girls, born joined at the chest, are doing well after the
operation.

Ranchers, pilots and snowmobilers are racing to provide hay and drinking
water to thousands of cattle left stranded by blizzards in the
southeastern Plains. It is estimated that up to 200,000 cattle are

BAGHDAD - The Pentagon on Sunday announced the death of a Texas
soldier,
killed by small arms fire in Baghdad late last week, raising the number
of
U.S. military deaths in Iraq to at least 3,000 since the war began,
according
to an Associated Press count. The grim milestone was crossed on the
final day
of 2006 and at the end of the deadliest month for the American military
in
Iraq in the past 12 months. At least 111 U.S. service members were
reported to
have died in December.
