U.S. stocks slide on China concerns

U.S. STOCKS SLIDE ON CHINA CONCERNS
Stocks tumble on fresh fears that China's attempts to curb bank
lending might slow global growth, while a bigger-than-expected drop in
housing starts rekindles concerns about the shape of the U.S.
recovery.

NYTIMES.COM TO LAUNCH PAY MODEL NEXT YEAR
Pressured by steep losses in print advertising as more consumers get
their news and information from the Internet, New York Times Co. says
its flagship newspaper will move to a paid model at the beginning of
2011.

U.S. PRODUCER PRICES RISE 0.2% IN DECEMBER
Prices at the wholesale level in December rise 0.2%, largely owing to
a sharp increase in food costs, the Labor Department reports. The data
would seem to indicate inflationary pressures remain under wraps.

decision to begin charging consumers for its online content.

FEARS OF CHINA BANK LENDING CURBS HIT ASIA STOCKS
Most Asian markets end lower as concerns China may step up its
tightening measures to cool a rapidly growing economy hit banking and
resource shares hard.
